 Traditional Foods Eaten in
Asopao is perhaps the most typical dish of Puerto Rico. A gumbo with highly flexible ingredients, asopao is most often cooked with chicken or shellfish, with a number of spices and herbs added for zest     

The coconut grows abundantly in Puerto Rico, and is much beloved by its residents. Its sweet milk can be made into flan, flavored rice or any number of traditional desserts.

A meat pie stuffed with ham or pork, pastelón de carne is often highly seasoned and topped with a sweet bread. It is central to many Puerto Rican dinners.

These appetizer dishes are widespread throughout the islands of Puerto Rico. They are fritter rolls filled with fish and flour, and seasoned as per the cook's preference.
